View SharePoint File and Folder Size (Create/Change View)

To view the size of a file or folder in SharePoint you can use the Explorer View or change or create a new view so that you can display a folder size within SharePoint:

STEPS FOR FILE SIZES

  1. Navigate to the Document Library
  2. Click the Library Tab > Library Settings > Bottom of the page (View) > Click the All Documents View
    1. Under the Columns section select the File Size
      1. Click OK
    2. You will now be able to see the file sizes

STEPS FOR FOLDER SIZES

  1. Navigate to the Document Library
  2. Click the Library Tab > Library Settings > Bottom of the page (View) > Click Create New View

     

  3. Choose the Standard View format
    1. Name the View Name (ex. Folder/File Size)
    2. Under the Columns section select the File Size
    3. Under the Totals section > File Size
      1. Choose Sum
    4. Under the Folders section select Show all items without folders
    5. You will now be able to see the file sizes
    6. Click OK

Navigate back to the document library > Choose the Library Tab > Under Current View: > Selct the Name of the view you just createdIf you want to get the total size of a library, switch to FileSize view to the at library level.

If you want to get the total size of a sub-folder in the library, first navigate to the sub-folder and then switch to FileSize view.
