Remote Desktops “Remote Desktop Connection Manager” (Windows 8)

In the new Windows 8 release the Remote Desktop(s) utility no longer exists. For those of us who manage several remote clients such as servers this utility has been quite useful managing clients rather using the Remote Desktop (.rdp). In Windows 8 the Remote Desktops does not exists and has been replaced with an even more useful tool!

Windows provides a utility named Remote Desktop Connection manage.

In case others read this post...

Mr. Retherford,

Remote Desktop Connection indeed did make the trip from Windows 7 to Windows 8.  It is there.  Just go to the Start Screen, right click on the background, then click on "All apps".  You will find it listed under "Windows Accessories" as it was in Windows 7.

Remote Desktop Connection Manager has been around before Windows 8.  I'm not sure when it first appeared but it is a very useful tool for those of us that have to support many PCs.

Kind regards,
James

ahhh????  no.

Basic RDP is in Windows 8 under accessories....however, I also can't find the Remote Desktop Connection MANAGER program...a VERY useful program IMHO.

Desktop Connection Manager

Hi, Windows 8 does not include the Remote Desktop(s) not to be confused with Remote Desktop.  As result this is why I use the Remote Desktop Connection Manager which in my opinion is a better tool.  Hope this clarifies things.

Cheers

So you're not talking about MSTSC?

AKA Microsoft Terminal Services Client, which is there.

This is NOT MSTSC or RDC (RDP) !!

RD Connection Manager allows you to connect to multiple servers/PCs in one window.  It would have all the servers/PCs listed on the left tree and several useful tabs on the right side.

I cannot install 2.2.  I do not get a .NET error.  I get error code 2503.

Got It Working!!

There is no option to run the .MSI as administrator.

This worked for me: with metro winkey+Q > cmd > right-click on command prompt > run as administractor > cd c:\downdloadfolder > type RDCman.msi press enter > Install the app.

Same process for uninstall.  I have UAC enabled.

Greetings,  I did some searching on the error code 2503 and seems to be an issue that is showing up everywhere when I do a search.

Hope this helps - http://answers.pubarticles.com/59459,how-to-fix-error-codes-2503-and-2502-in-windows-8-1345527156.html

If not there are sveral others that look promisong.
