Symantec Encryption Management Server (PGP) Upgrade 3.4.1MP1

Upgrading the Symantec Encryption Management Server for major versions requires a new fresh installation using an .iso which is different from the update using a .pup file update process.

  1. Create a non-local backup of the system.
  2. Save the system backup to an sftp location.
  3. Backup the Organization Key!
    1. This will be used in conjunction with the passphrase you set for this to restore the DB since it is encrypted.

Attach .iso and boot the server. This will overwrite any existing settings, so make sure you backup previous to the installation.

  • IP Address/Prefix: x.x.x.x/x Note* the /x is the "Netmask" Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.255 for example.
    "Default" Gateway: x.x.x.x
    Name Server: x.x.x.x
    Hostname: servername.doamin

After a successful install you should see this screen.

Log into the web console via https://IP:9000

Proceed through the setup wizard.

Select Restore and Import the Key File and System Backup when prompted.
