​Issue is that when Windows Server Backup opens it displays:
“Windows Server Local Backup encountered an error while getting the status…”

This is a corrupt backup catalog and to fix it simply reset the catalog.  This does not delete backup files and recreates the backup configuration.

In Windows Powreshell run as administrator and run:
  • ​​wbadmin delete catalog -quiet
Reopen Windows Server Backup.
