What’s New in SharePoint 2010 SP1

Microsoft recently released SharePoint 2010 service Pack 1 (SP1) which includes several notable enhancements and improved functionality.

In general the new SP1 release includes performance, security, stability, and enhancements for the administrator and end-users.

Here are some of the enhancements…

Support for Microsoft SQL Server Code Name "Denali"

Site Recycle Bin
Previously End-Users could only recover lists, libraries, and documents using the Recycle Bin, however in the SP1 revision enhanced functionality to recover site collections and sites have been added.

StorMan.aspx
To start the storage management tool named Storage Space Allocation (StorMan.aspx) has returned after being redacted from the 2010 release of SharePoint.  This tool allows for granular management of storage so that users can better understand quota and oversee storage of large documents so that proactive measures could be implemented.  You can read more about this storage tool at
