How Spirion Search’s SharePoint

Spirion and the SharePoint REST and ListData.svc

Among the many other data repositories that Spirion searches (Dropbox, Amazon Cloud Drive, Microsoft Office 365 "Exchange", Google Drive, Box Sync, etc.) this includes SharePoint 2013 and up for on-premise and off premise deployments.

Spirion uses a process to query list data using the listdata.svc that SharePoint sites provide out of the box. This ListData.svc provides functionality to connect to and examine information for SharePoint lists using REST. More information about this Spirion integration is located at http://my.spirion.com/Help/EnterpriseConsole/index.htm#3392.htm#o3413 for the console.

  1. To begin the Spirion search of a SharePoint site 2013 and higher verify that you are able to open the SharePoint site that the list service is running, for example - http://www.coryretherford.com/_vti_bin/ListData.svc. The list service is always accessed by appending _vti_bin/ListData.svc to any root site or subsite location (i.e. http://sharepointsite.domain/_vti_bin/ListData.svc).

  2. To retrieve and permit Spirion to search for list data you need to specify the list such as Tasks, Calendar, Comments, etc. For example http://www.coryretherford.com/_vti_bin/ListData.svc/Images (i.e. http://sharepointsite.domain/_vti_bin/ListData.svc/ListName.)

  3. Now that you can resolve the list data you can add this working URL to the Spirion console using these instructions - http://my.spirion.com/Help/EnterpriseConsole/index.htm#3392.htm#o3413
